Manchester United and Tottenham shared the points in an entertaining 1-1 draw at Old Trafford as neither team took the initiative to kick start their seasons.
Spurs were the dominant team in the first half as United looked sluggish, slow and underprepared. It was only Tottenham’s lack of ruthlessness in the final third that kept the match on level terms are the half time break.
The second half saw all the drama as Michael Carrick introduced an inspired Carlos Baleba for his debut and United struck first through a slick combination from Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo with the latter rolling a shot past Antonin Kinsky.
Roberto de Zerbi’s men never lacked belief and continued to attack. They earned their rewards with a stoppage time cross that find Dominic Solanke who headed home the equaliser.

The consistent and concerning trend that should worry Manchester United
Dominic Solanke’s late strike cancelled out Bryan Mbeumo’s opener and saw United give away another lead despite Spurs being down to 10-men.

More from Carrick
"I don't think it is lack of confidence, but a game can get away from you very quickly. We found a way right back into the game, and got ourselves in a great position - that is one of the most disappointing things.
"It's not nice, it hurts a lot because I care about this club. But I understand the disappointment, the reality is what it is, we need to get back to winning games."
Reaction from Michael Carrick
"It was a mixed game. We found it tough to start with. For a number of reasons, we were not quite there. You could see it was a challenging time.
"But the lads grew into the game, in the second half I thought we were better in everything. To get the game as we wanted it, in such a good position - we should see it through.
“We have to manage those situations. That's two late goals which have hurt us, and things look very different. That's the reality."
Solanke on Bentancur's red card:
“It all happened so quickly so I haven’t seen it back yet. It shows the fight in the team. Everyone is so hungry to do the right thing and show the right passion.
“We’ve got so much to work on. The mentality and character was great. We’re going to put things right eventually and we’ll be flying sooner rather than later.”
Reaction from Dominic Solanke
The Tottenham goalscorer said: “I wouldn’t say it feels like a win. In the first half, we played so well. Dominated the majority and should have been a couple of goals ahead. In the second half, we go and man down and still managed to get something from the game. It shows the mentality and the character of the team.
“We’ve been a goal down and not reacted in the right way, we wanted to put that right. Goal down, man down, it would have been easy for us to not go for the win.
“I probably should’ve had three goals today. I wanted to make sure I kept getting as many as I can. I put one away so I’m thankful for that.”
Solanke's surprise
Tottenham’s Dominic Solanke has netted four Premier League goals against Manchester United, his joint-most against an opponent (also Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest).
Meanwhile, the City Ground (four) is the only away venue he has scored more often at than Old Trafford (three) in the competition.
Magic Mbeumo
Tottenham are now the team that Bryan Mbeumo has scored the most Premier League goals against, netting seven times in 10 appearances against them (four for Brentford, three for Manchester United).
A bad start for United
Manchester United have won just six points from their opening six games of the Premier League season, their fewest at this stage of a league campaign since 1986-87 (four).
Mbeumo reacts to draw with Spurs
Understandably, Bryan Mbeumo is a disappointed man.
"We took time to get into the game, but we played well in the second half,” he told Sky Sports.
“In the first half, that wasn't us, we had to change. We tried to get at them.
"We know Spurs have good players who can be dangerous. It's a bit disappointing, we need to work on things.
"We need to keep going forward, as we have a lot of games."
