Curtis Jones responds to Liverpool transfer 'agreement' claim as midfielder takes to social media
Curtis Jones has been linked with a move away from Liverpool this summer, with claims from one outlet that a deal has already been agreed for the midfielder
Curtis Jones was taken so taken aback to learn that a deal had been 'agreed' for him between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest that he took matters into his own hands on social media on Saturday. The 25-year-old has been largely tipped to leave Anfield this summer.
While Juventus, Inter Milan and Galatasaray have been credited with an interest in the midfielder, the Tricky Trees have also emerged as contenders. Forest will be scouring the market for reinforcement to their engine room, considering they lost Elliot Anderson to Manchester City in a £116million move earlier this month.
And while one outlet, which has over 424,000 followers online, claimed that the City Ground outlet have struck an initial deal for Jones, the Merseyside-born star appears to see things differently. Taking to the comments section on an Instagram post announcing the 'deal' Jones simply commented a raised eyebrow emoji, as if it was news to him.
That comment quickly racked up over 3,800 likes, with a number of fans replying to Jones with delight. Among a string of laughing emojis from other users, one wrote: "This guy is staying thank god," while another added: "As surprised as we are."
It comes as Jones' future at Anfield remains up in the air, with Andoni Iraola expected to strengthen his first-team this summer in a bid to push on in the Premier League and Europe. Arne Slot could only manage a fifth-place finish in 2025/26, despite the board splashing a staggering £446m on new arrivals for the league champions.
Liverpool are thought to be demanding a fee of at least £30m to let Jones leave this summer, with Inter Milan not looking to spend that much on the talent despite a prolonged interest. That price ultimately matches the Reds' valuation of their homegrown star, as well as an inflated market at present due to midfielders being in demand.
Jones was an important squad player for Liverpool last term, racking up 1,930 minutes from 34 Premier League appearances. He also managed a goal and two assists for his efforts.

With the arrival of Iraola, however, it is unknown whether the new head coach plans to utilise the Englishman in the coming season. Jones is also into the final year of his contract in the North West, and Liverpool could opt to move him on in the coming months instead of losing him for free this time next year.
It comes as Emile Heskey has opined that Jones requires more consistent playing time either with Liverpool or elsewhere if he hopes to thrive. He said: "I would keep Curtis Jones as he gives you backup and options.
"It depends on whether he wants to continue as a secondary player, but he has the quality to break into the team. If he has international ambitions, he needs to be playing regularly.

"He won the Under-21 Euros and was one of the best players there. He's watched others springboard into the full team, but he needs regular football to do the same."
Heskey also picked problem with the Reds' defensive set-up, considering Ibrahima Konate's recent departure and talks of Vigril van Dijk also jumping ship.

He added: "Regarding centre-backs, with Ibrahima Konate leaving, the club must strengthen that area. There has been talk about Virgil van Dijk leaving.
"That would surprise me considering he's been the leader and the one who helps everyone else. It would be a big shock if he were the one to go."
